Will Kirkendall Become a Truly Walkable Community??
The City is currently conducting an Environmental Assessment to develop a Pedestrian Bridges Master Plan for three locations along the CP Rail Line (Poulette, Ray and Pearl Streets) in the Kirkendall Neighbourhood. For anyone who missed the March 31 PIC, the details can be reviewed at http://www.hamilton.ca/ppr_bridges_master_plan. The city is recommending that the bridges not be rebuilt. Yet, these bridges are an important feature of walkability. As we work to encourage more children to walk to school safely, these bridges are important. Cllr. Brian McHattie is looking for your thoughts on this and has written the following letter. Comments can be sent to Cllr McHattie at bmchattie@hamilton.ca before the end of April 2008.
