Fright Night

Fright Night is Earl Kitchener’s largest fundraising event of the year, raising more than $5,000 in a single night to provide funds for items such as play equipment, AV equipment, and much, much more. It is a fun filled evening of food, games, face painting, a and fun. It is a chance for our whole community to come together and enjoy a celebration of the season! There is pizza, an amazing bake sale, a spooky Haunted House, face painting and our famous Jar Room!

How does Fright Night work?

Fright Night is organized and manned solely by the generous contributions of volunteers. With out their help and support Fright Night would not happen and our school community would not reap the benefits of the much needed funds raised at this event. There is a community of volunteers already in place who will organize and run the various aspects of the event but we need YOU to commit a small amount of time or resources to make it happen.

How can I contribute?

Your time is our most valuable asset. As little as an hour is all you need to commit to help make the evening successful, if you have more time to spare we certainly appreciate it. It is also a great way to meet other EK families and have fun. Bring your kids to the set up on Friday or Saturday, there is lots to do to keep the little ones busy and getting them involved is fun for them as well! During the event we need many volunteers to help run the games and events.

Jar Room

A fan favourite of the evening! We need volumes of small, inexpensive toys, accessories, gadgets and gizmos which are packaged and sorted by age and gender to be purchased by the kids for only $2. This is a great way to empty out the bottom of the toy box or hit the Dollar store and let the kids pick some fun items! Please make sure that used donations are functional, clean and peanut free. A drop off box for items or “jars” (loot bags) will be located outside the staff room.

Witches' Kitchen

Another favorite with the community! Our school community is full of bakers with extraordinary talent! Bake up some ghoulish, nut-free treats. Goodies can be dropped off at the school Friday, Oct. 23 from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. or Saturday, Oct.24 from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.

Silent Auction

Building on two successful years, the spooky Silent Auction returns to Fright Night. We are soliciting donations. Please use the volunteer form and type the details of your donation into the comments box. Also, we are looking for volunteers to canvas local businesses and help run the auction during Fright Night. Again volunteer using the form.

Crawly Spider Lucky Kids Room

A fun toy raffle for kids - lots of tickets for $1. Children can buy tickets and drop them in the jar of the prize they would like to win.  We will have one draw per prize, and the lucky kid who's ticket is drawn, wins that crawly spider prize.  We are accepting donations of toy prizes, (preferably new). The more prizes we have, the more fun it will be.  Donations can be dropped off in a box labeled "Crawly-Spider" in the school staffroom.

Contribute Your Time

This is a fun way to volunteer your time and use power tools all at the same time. Our Haunted house is set up and run by a great team of volunteers. The structure is set up Friday evening and decorated on Saturday, spooky but fun!

Friday, October 23th

We enter the school at 5 p.m. and transform it into a Halloween haven! This is a fun way to get to know people and use your artistic side! The games are set up throughout the school, the hall decked and things put in place for the final touches. This is when the structural portion of the Haunted House is constructed. (Volunteers are encouraged to bringh cordless drills and screw bits.)

Saturday, October 24th

This is a busy but fun day where it all comes together! More decorating, the outside of the school is transformed into a spooky, Halloween adventure and the Jar Room, Witches Kitchen etc is all set up! The day is organized into 2 hour shifts through out the day and the kids are welcome!

Saturday, October 24th (at event)

We only require a half hour commitment to run the many events at Fright Night. You talents could be used running a game, working in the Witches Kitchen or Jar Room and preparing food. The kids are welcome to accompany you to your shift.

Clean-up / Take Down

This is an essential task for us that requires a substantial number of strong backs to take down the decorations, the haunted house and put the school back to normal. We again need people with power tools to make it all go quickly. This is usually a 1-2 hour commitment.
